California Psychic Arrested After Scamming $3,000 From Victim

Crestline, CA. – A California psychic has been arrested and accused of stealing money from her customers this past week. Greg Mills, a CBS2/KCAL9 reporter from Inland Empire, CA., interviewed one of the psychic’s alleged victims.

Although the victim wished to remain anonymous, she wanted to share her experience of getting scammed for $3,000 with the public. She states that the fraudulent psychic assured her she could clear her from a spirit associated with her. “It sounds ridiculous when I think about it,” she says. The Sheriff’s Department arrested the psychic on embezzlement charges and returned the $3,000 to the victim.

The accused psychic’s name is Cindy Uwanawich, but she goes by several names, most commonly Cindy and Uwanawich. Michael Sims owns the store next door to the psychic’s business and witnessed the police arrest her. “It was a week ago. They just quietly took her out in handcuffs,” he recalls.

The Crestline victim states that she had visited Cindy twice. “She said that I had a spirit associated with me that was not an evil spirit, but a spirit that was unhappy,” she said. The psychic told the victim that she would have to pay her $9,000, which would be returned to her in nine days so that she could rid her of the unhappy spirit.

The Scammer Ghosted The Victim After Payment

The victim was only able to give her a down payment of $3,000, and when she contacted Cindy a month later, she told her that she didn’t feel well and wanted to know if they could meet up in a couple of days. The woman agreed to this, but when she tried to call and text message Cindy several days later, she did not respond.

After the woman unsuccessfully in getting a hold of Cindy for several days, she reported her to the police. It was then that the arrest took place. Reporter Mills visited Cindy’s home in Crestline, and her husband, Nick, answered the door. After Nick told him she was not home, Mills asked when she would return.

“When is she going to be home? I don’t know. It was all a big misunderstanding, is what it was. She got sick, and the lady made a complaint because she couldn’t get a hold of her,” he replied to Mills. Since Cindy’s arrest, the Sheriff’s Department has had three more complaints about her. The department has reason to believe more victims will come forward with complaints.
