Crestline, CA. – A Psychic from the city of Crestline has been arrested and accused of stealing money from her customers this past week.
Although the victim wished to remain anonymous, she wanted to share this experience of getting scammed for $3,000 with the public.
She states that the fraudulent psychic assured her that she could clear her from a spirit that was associated with her.
“It sounds really ridiculous when I think about it,” she says.
The Sheriff’s Department arrested the psychic on charges of embezzlement and returned the $3,000 to the victim. The accused psychic’s name is Cindy Uwanawich but she goes by several names, the two most common being Cindy and Uwanawich.
Michael Sims owns the store next door to the psychic’s business and witnessed the police arrest her. “It was a week ago. She was just quietly taken out in handcuffs,” he recalls.
The Crestline victim states that she had visited Cindy twice. “She told me that I had a spirit associated with me that was not an evil spirit, but a spirit that was unhappy,” she said.
The psychic told the victim that she would have to pay her $9,000 that would be returned to her in nine days so that she can rid her of the unhappy spirit.
The victim was only able to give her a down payment of $3,000 and when she contacted Cindy a month later, she told her that she didn’t feel well and wanted to know if they could meet up in a couple of days. The woman agreed to this but when she tried to call and text message Cindy several days later, she did not get a response from her.
After the woman was unsuccessful in getting a hold of Cindy for several days, she reported her to the police and that is when the arrest happened.
Reporter Mills made a visit to Cindy’s home in Crestline and her husband Nick answered the door. After Nick told him that she was not home, Mills asked when would she be back; “When is she going to be home? I don’t know. It was all a big misunderstanding is what it was. She got sick and the lady made a complaint because she couldn’t get a hold of her,” he replied to Mills.
Since Cindy’s arrest, there have been three more complaints made to the Sheriff’s Department about her and the department has reason to believe that there will be more victims who will come forward with complaints.
