Even though he is best known by his pen name of Mark Twain, Samuel Langhorne Clemens was a noted American author and humorist in the 1800’s. His most famous works include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in 1876 and the sequel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in 1885.
Many people have heard of Mark Twain and his books but not a lot of people are aware of the fact that he was known to have possessed psychic abilities.
People believed in his psychic abilities because he predicted his own death. Twain was born just two weeks after Halley’s Comet was closest to our sun on November 30th, 1835. This is significant because in the autobiography that he published in 1909 he said “I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: ‘now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.’” Sure enough, Twain did die the day after Halley’s Comets’ subsequent appearance on April 21st, 1910.
Aside from having predicted his own death, he also predicted the death of his brother Henry. He had a prescient dream where he envisioned Henry laying in a coffin that was sitting on top of two folding in the living room of his sister’s house. Just a few weeks after this prophetic dream, Henry was involved in a fatal boating accident. When Twain arrived at his sister’s house for the wake of his brother, the first thing he saw was Henry arranged exactly as he had visualized in his dream. There was even a specific flower arrangement sitting on his brother’s chest that he had seen in his dream.
People believe that his psychic gifts were a big part of the reason that Twain was such an amazing author.
