Everyone knew it would only be a matter of time before Lindsay Lohan would return to jail. The troubled actress was arrested again on November 29th, 2012. This time for punching a Florida psychic named Tiffany Ava Mitchell in the face. They were inside a Manhattan nightclub named ‘Avenue’ when it happened. The club had previously banned Lohan, but they let her back in for the night.
“I need space,” Lohan allegedly said before she struck the psychics’ face with her fist. It appears that Mitchell had offered to give Lohan a free psychic reading in the VIP section of Avenue. Lohan and her crew attempted to escape the nightclub after punching the psychic. She was hoping to get away and avoid any repercussions for her actions. She tried to slip out the back door of the nightclub and ran into an alley that led to her car and driver.
However, Mitchell saw her running away and pointed her to the police. “That’s her,” Mitchell told the police. When the psychic identified her, Lohan was already sitting in the front passenger seat of a black Cadillac Escalade, about to drive off. As soon as Mitchell pointed her out, the police blocked Lohan’s car with their cars and kept her from speeding off.
Onlookers said that 26-year-old Lohan looked shocked when the police handcuffed her. Police were able to question her for something else after they caught her. In a previous incident, Lohan ran into the back of a dump truck while on the Pacific Coast Highway in California. When police finally caught up to Lohan, they asked her about this car accident. She denied being the driver, but police knew it was her and accused her of lying for denying it.
California Police Were Called As Well
Witnesses said all Lohan kept saying was, “Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?” She was charged with misdemeanor assault but was released. The judge set a court hearing for January 7th, 2013. Following the incident, California police added three misdemeanor counts of their own. One of them is “lying to an officer,” another is “obstructing an officer in the course of his duties,” and the last one is “reckless driving.”
Lohan has already been incarcerated five times for short periods. This latest incident could cause her to serve jail time once again. It’s up to a California judge to decide if she broke her probation by allegedly lying to the police about the car wreck or attacking Mitchell in New York. Lohan is already on probation for theft. In 2011, Lohan was at a jewelry store named Kamofie & Co. when she put a $2,500 necklace on her neck and walked out.
She pleaded guilty to this and received probation. Overcrowding always caused her to be released shortly after her arrests. She has never served more than a few hours in custody. The night of the assault, police took her to the 10th precinct stationhouse in her same clubbing attire. She called her attorney with the one phone call she was allowed.
Her attorney, Mark Jay Heller, didn’t waste any time defending her and making excuses for her behavior. “Once again, Lindsay Lohan is a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame,” he said. “I can tell when I was with her this morning she was in great condition,” he told E! News. “She was certainly not intoxicated, certainly not under the influence of drugs.”
Psychic’s Husband Says The Attack Came Out Of Nowhere
Mitchell’s husband, Wayne Stevens, was present during the assault. He states Lohan started the attack on his wife for no reason, then tried to run away before NYPD showed up. Mitchell and her husband were sitting with a different couple when they heard a fight at a nearby table. According to police, Mitchell moved away from the fight as soon as it started. She didn’t want to be in the way and get hurt. In the process, she wandered into Lohan’s path by accident.
Reports state Lohan was enraged because Max George, the singer of a band named The Wanted, ignored her, paying attention to Mitchell instead. Mitchell’s husband feels Lohan had no reason to attack his wife and did it without cause. He said Lohan shoved Mitchell from behind, then delivered a single blow to the left side of her face.
“She pushed my wife pretty hard, and I don’t know why (Lohan) pushed her,” he said. “She came around and told my wife, ‘I need space”… and then she just punched her.” TMZ states that after Lohan shoved and punched Mitchell, Mitchell volunteered to give Lohan a free psychic reading, but Lohan ignored her. She turned around to walk the other way and called Mitchell an “a f—ing Gypsy.”
After the attack, Mitchell’s husband immediately called the police as Lohan scrambled to leave the club. Lohan’s night had been a busy one. Before going to the nightclub, she had just gone to Madison Square Garden for a Justin Bieber concert. That was when she caused all the commotion, and the police took her to jail. Witnesses later saw her leaving the jail with a coat over her head to shield her from the gathered paparazzi.
Lohan’s Dad Blames Her Mother
This incident is not the first time she has caused trouble at Avenue nightclub. As mentioned, management had previously banned her from the club for tweeting negative remarks and gossip about Justin Timberlake one night when they were both there. Her father, Michael Lohan, told the Daily News Confidential via text that he was not surprised police arrested Lindsey.
He then blamed Dina, her mother, and his ex-wife for her behavior. “Again, it’s ALL on Dina,” he wrote to them. “She is in a dark place. It’s in God’s hands, and I hope he deals with her appropriately,” he continued. Just hours after Lohan’s newest attack, Dina released a statement to the public about the situation. “As a mother, you always love and pray for the best with all your children. Our family’s bond grows deeper and stronger during the tough times.”
Aside from her charges in California and New York, Lohan is dealing with several other personal problems. In September, she fought with a congressional aide, and in October, she and her mother had a major blowout where they even called the police on each other, to name a few. Lohan has had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse and has difficulty staying clean and sober.
She was court-ordered to stay at the Betty Ford Center for rehab at one point, but they released her in January 2011, and she has not been back since then.
