I’ve made it my life’s work to protect people from con artists and help them find authentic and trustworthy psychics.
I’m passionate about this because genuine psychics have helped me through some of the most challenging times of my life.
However, I had to go through some trial and error to find them, and I made the mistake of going with the first psychic I encountered without researching or reading any reviews and got scammed.
I thought in-person psychics would be better so that I could get to know them and have a stronger connection.
Well, it turns out I was dead wrong about that. Unfortunately, the psychic industry is full of crooks trained their whole lives to scam vulnerable people.
Fraudulent psychics teach themselves how to read a person’s body language and facial expressions and get people to trust them with their personal information and finances.
I was ready to give up and write ALL psychics off as fake, but I decided to give online psychics a shot.
I’ve learned a lot about the world of psychic advisors, mediums, energy healers, and clairvoyants since then.

They Can’t Cold-Read You To Study Your Behavior And Reactions
Watching how a person’s body shifts when a specific topic comes up can show a well-trained con artist their weak spots.
They can then use that sensitive subject to break people down emotionally and give the crook everything. Online psychics don’t do that, and they have no choice but to rely on their natural gifts and abilities.
Psychic advisors have an incredible sense of perception, heightened intuition, and unique minds that most don’t.
They feel things sooooo much deeper than the everyday person. Empaths pick up a person’s feelings and experience them in their body as if they were their own.
That allows them to form a deep connection with people and relate to them on an entirely different level. They’re able to use this bond to help their clients.
Following my terrible experience, I’ve taken it upon myself to keep this from happening to as many people as possible.
I try to write helpful articles that help people get the most value and guidance from their reading. I’ve now spoken to hundreds of psychics and think I’ve learned a thing or two.
For this article, I interviewed some of my favorite psychics from Psychic Source, Ask Now, and Path Forward for their wisdom.
I wanted to see if there were things they all mentioned or brought up despite not knowing each other.
Organize Your Thoughts Before The Reading
One of the main things the psychics agreed on was that many clients ask the wrong questions or ask them the wrong way, which results in them receiving less than helpful information.
They all spoke about how the questions people commonly ask them are too broad, vague, or nonspecific. When consulting a psychic, the way you ask your questions determines the type of answers you’ll get.
The psychics suggest breaking down your questions and concerns into categories and approaching them individually for optimal results.
For example, it can be tempting for a person who is not only reeling from the loss of a loved one but also experiencing problems at work to mention all of that at once to the psychic.
That’s fine, but each subject is unique and deserves its time. Instead of bringing up all of your problems at once, take some time to write them all down.
Jot down your questions, concerns, and issues in a notebook. When done, rank them one by one in order of how badly they’re affecting you.
Once you’ve decided which is the most bothersome, you can bring that one up on your first reading.
This way, the psychic can focus on helping you with that problem or concern, leading to more precise and informative guidance and advice from them.
Once you’ve tackled that topic, you can work your way down your list until they’re cleared up.
Fully Understand Your Feelings
The psychics all told me that a great psychic session starts before the reading even takes place. They said it is in a client’s best interest to do a little work before reaching out to them.
Aside from writing out a list of your most pressing concerns, they said it’s crucial to do some soul-searching about how and why these things affect you.
Are you wanting to change careers because you’re not making enough money or because it’s not making you feel fulfilled?
Do you want to be in a relationship because all your friends are or because you’ve done a lot of self-improvement and are ready to give your love to someone?
It’s a good idea to keep these realizations to yourself at first. You don’t want to start the reading and immediately tell the psychic what you’ve discovered about yourself. That’s for your reference only.
A talented psychic can get to the root of these things independently. You don’t have to understand your feelings first if you prefer not to or if you just need help now- that’s fine.
Doing this helps you gauge whether the psychic is on the right path. If so, you can be confident that the psychic’s guidance is relevant to what you’re experiencing.
It also helps to think about your feelings and write them down ahead of time because it reminds you to bring them up during the reading.
Psychic readings can be intense, and it’s not uncommon to find yourself highly emotional. Once you’re in that state, it’s easy to forget a topic you want to discuss.
This is especially true if you’re consulting a medium. Making contact with loved ones or the spirits of those who have passed is bound to make you emotional.
Think About The Questions You Want To Ask
Once you’ve written your thoughts and feelings down, form these concerns into questions. Be specific with your questions instead of making them too broad.
Instead of asking, “When will I meet my soulmate?” ask, “How can I improve my chances of meeting my soulmate soon?”
Instead of “Will I change jobs soon?” ask, “Will switching careers give me more sense of purpose?” That ensures you get the most helpful information possible.
Psychics don’t see the future like they make it seem on TV; instead, they use their heightened intuition, supernatural instincts, and enhanced perception to solve and understand things.
That naturally gives them an idea of what your future will be like. Anytime a “psychic” says something will happen on a specific date, chances are they’re fake and are trying to scam you.
Humans have free will, and your future is constantly changing. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want, in life. Psychics are there to help you reach your goals and dreams.
Let Your Intentions Be Known
If you’re planning on consulting a medium to connect with the other side, giving the intended spirit a heads-up is a good idea.
Just because you can’t hear from the other side as mediums can, doesn’t mean THEY can’t listen to YOU. Let your loved one know the night before the session that you’re planning on seeing a medium.
Invite them to join the reading and tell them how much it would mean to you if they showed up. This step brings the spirit closer to you and assures them they’re missed and loved.
It makes them feel less shy and more comfortable, increasing their chances of answering the medium’s call.
The spirit mediums I spoke to said they could make contact nine times out of ten when their client set their intentions the night before.
If the medium can’t connect with the spirit, don’t feel bad or blame yourself. There are several reasons why a spirit doesn’t respond or show up, which I explained more in-depth here.
Use Your Time Wisely
I was surprised when the psychics told me that many clients spend a long time explaining things. I figured this was a good thing for them, but they said it was a big no-no.
They don’t like you to give them the answers to everything because it interferes with their process of discovering and understanding you.
The more they can perceive about you on their own, the more valuable their insight will be. They prefer you ask them one question at a time, then wait for their response.
They said sometimes people would ask them several questions back-to-back and then start answering their questions. Or at least what they think are the answers.
That takes up a lot of time during the reading because the psychic has to follow up your thoughts with their own. They have to unravel what you’re thinking and give you their point of view and advice.
Psychics need to make a living like the rest of us and have to charge for their time. The amount you pay depends on how long the reading was.
You don’t want to waste precious time thinking out loud or talking to yourself. Use the time wisely and let them be the ones doing the talking.
Once you’ve mentioned your concern, the psychic should take over from there. They shouldn’t be asking you many questions unless it’s to ask you if what they’re saying makes sense.
If it does, great! If it doesn’t, don’t be afraid to ask them to explain it to you better.
Keep Good Notes
I always tell my readers to keep notes, so I was happy when the psychics mentioned it. I realized in my early days of consulting psychics that sometimes what they told me didn’t make sense at the time.
Even after an explanation, it just didn’t seem relevant. They asked me to take notes and keep them handy somewhere.
Then I noticed that out of the blue and unexpectedly, the message or information I had dismissed suddenly made perfect sense!
Other times, I would realize how it fit or applied to me after I had taken time to process my thoughts.
Keeping notes is also a good because even though psychics don’t give you exact dates or timelines, they CAN give you very detailed information.
You’ll want to keep these details handy for when you need them.
Your mind is probably all over the place during a reading making it easy to forget specific words or phrases.
If you don’t remember what was said, it can be tempting to fill in the gaps yourself, which isn’t going to help you much in the long run. You need to be able to recall things exactly as they were said.
This is especially true if you spoke to a medium. There’s nothing worse than forgetting what your loved one wanted you to know.
Your reading is sure to be a satisfying and rewarding experience if you follow these tips. You’ll also have a stronger connection with the psychic, which is good for both of you.
It relaxes you and makes you feel more comfortable, allowing you to be more open to the guidance they’ve given you.
