Online psychic scam

Denver, CO. – It really doesn’t take psychic abilities to know that the Internet is full of people just trying to scam you and take your money.

Officials with the Denver Police Department are cautioning people about an online scam involving psychic services that ask for money to be paid upfront.

A victim of this psychic scam notified the police on November 15th telling them that he was going through some really hard times and solicited the services of a clairvoyant online.

They told the police that the con-woman told him she could help him with his problems but that she would need the payment of $400 upfront before she can do anything.

The victim didn’t think anything weird about that and wired her the money. After she received the money, the suspect then told the victim that she would need $55,000 more from him to pay for the crystals and candles she would be using to help fix his problems.

According to a Denver Police Department official, upon being told this, the victim told the suspect that he didn’t have that much money and the con artist made payment arrangements with the victim that ended up totaling $10,000 within the course of a week!

After that amount was paid, the fraudulent psychic then told the victim that the remaining $45,000 was due and that he would need to take out a second mortgage on his home in order to pay for it.

The suspect then began scaring the victim by telling him that if he did not pay, worse things were going to start happening to him. The victim began to get suspicious and that is when he decided to contact the police.

“Even if someone is clairvoyant, they can only see the future, they can’t shape it,” said a post on Facebook by the Denver Police Department. “And don’t pay for services up front- get the product first and then provide payment.”

Denver Police Department is asking that anybody with knowledge of this case please contact them at (720) 913-2000.
