Denver Resident Scammed Out Of $10,000 In Psychic Scam

You don’t have to be psychic to know the Internet is full of scammers trying to steal your money. Denver Police Department officials caution residents about an online scam involving psychic services that ask for payment upfront. A victim of this psychic scam notified the police on November 15th. He told them he was going through tough times and contacted an online clairvoyant.

He said the con woman told him she could help him with his problems but would need $400 upfront before doing anything. At first, the victim didn’t suspect anything and wired her the money. After receiving the money, the suspect told the victim she needed $55,000 more from him. She said it was to pay for crystals and candles she would need to help fix his problems.

According to Denver Police, the victim told the suspect he didn’t have that much money upon being told this. The con artist made payment arrangements with the victim that totaled $10,000 within a week! After the victim paid that amount, the fraudulent psychic told him the remaining $45,000 was due.

She told him he would need to take out a second mortgage on his home to pay for it. The suspect then began scaring the victim by telling him that if he didn’t pay, worse things would start happening to him. Eventually, the victim started to get suspicious, and that’s when he contacted the police.

“Even if someone is clairvoyant, they can only see the future, they can’t shape it,” said a post on Facebook by the Denver Police Department. “And don’t pay for services upfront- get the product first and then provide payment.” In addition, the Denver Police Department asks that anybody who knows this case contact them at (720) 913-2000.
