Superior, WI. – Cathy Kates didn’t want to go with your common fundraiser platform for her newest cause. “We like to think out of the box,” she told B105. “There’s a lot of runs, a lot of walks, and a lot of spaghetti dinners.” That’s why radio stations Kool 101.7 and B105 teamed up with psychic medium Susan Anderson to assist in raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
“It’s a hospital without walls meaning that the research done there is shared, and they share their protocol worldwide,” Kates said. “Many of our doctors here use that protocol so their patients can stay with their family and friends.” They held the fundraiser inside Barkers Island in Superior. For a $25.00 ticket, attendees could help out a good cause and get a psychic reading simultaneously.
“In here, you’re connecting spirit with the physical side,” says Anderson. “So it’s always about bridging two worlds. I can see, I can hear, I can smell things, I can feel things,” Anderson says. She randomly chooses a fundraiser audience member who came hoping to get clarity and answers in their life. She decides who to choose by walking up and down the room, seeing who she picks up information about.
Everyone Needs A Little Help Sometimes
“People come in and want to know who’s around them on the other side,” she says. “Sometimes they want to know personal things like what’s going on in their life.” One such audience member was a woman from Duluth named Nancy Gerber. “I can’t believe what she talked about; I have goosebumps,” Gerber says. Gerber was there hoping to get answers and closure from the death of her husband.
“I’ve been having such a hard time, and she is real,” she says. “She told me some things only Mike and I knew about. I’ve felt so good.” Feelings ran rampant, and there were tears, confusion, and laughter throughout the session, which lasted two hours. “You’re connecting people to remember where they came from, remember what that is, that’s all,” Anderson said.
The event raised money for a good cause and help those hurting heal themselves emotionally and physically. “There’s still cancer in little kids’ lives, so we are still raising money,” Kates said. “I do believe that you should give back, so if you don’t have money, you should perhaps use your skills and do something good for someone else.”
