Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office placed a scheming psychic named Lecia Urich on house arrest on June 11th for an outstanding warrant. The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office is working with the Kenner Police Department to punish Urich for her scams. Kenner authorities asked Plaquemines police to arrest Urich in her Belle Chasse home and transfer her to the Kenner jail.
Both legal teams are now investigating her. They’re asking residents from both areas to contact them if they’ve done business with Urich and feel they were scammed. Authorities feel Urich has conned several Belle Chasse residents of their money despite living there less than a year. This latest arrest is not her first confrontation with the law. In 2006 she received a two-year suspended sentence and had to be on probation for two years. She was found guilty of scamming several clients in the Jefferson Parish area out of tens of thousands of dollars.
Urich convinced her clients to give her large amounts of money to have evil curses banished from their lives. She also scared them into believing the curses were the reason for any illness or disease they were suffering from. Urich received a different one-year suspended sentence and one year of probation in 2006 for attempting to defraud a woman out of $5,000
The Scamming Psychic Loved Using Scare Tactics On Her Victims
Urich told the woman she was cursed and would die horrifically if she didn’t take immediate action. The psychic told the woman she would have to give her $5,000 to fix the problem. The solution was for Urich to perform a ritual on the money and then bury it in a cemetery. The victim thought this extremely suspicious.
She decided to let the local police department know what Urich was up to and reveal her as a scammer. When the police received this information from the victim, they began investigating her. Together with the district attorney’s office, they decided they had enough information to arrest her, so they did. Urich carried out her sentence and opened a psychic business called “Mrs. Lisa’s Palm & Tarot Card Readings” in Belle Chasse.
She was running that until she got arrested on June 11th. Both police departments are urging former victims of “Mrs. Lisa” to contact the local authorities and give them their story so that they can build a bigger case against her. They request that anyone with any information about her or her victims call the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau at 504-392-1652.
