The Scottish woman who was the winner of a psychic talent show in the Ukraine is stating that management for the television show are refusing to give her the prize she won.
52-year-old June Field wanted to win the prize of £19,000 so last year she entered the eastern European International Psychic’s Challenge.
Field, who is from Dundee, Scotland, was able to beat 70,000 other contestants at over 38 different challenges. A panel that included Uri Geller, the spoon-bender, crowned her as the World’s Greatest Psychic since she beat everyone at the challenges.
Despite the fact that she was up against a Ukrainian finalist, Field managed to secure 50% of the public vote.
Although the show was very popular- it was watched by 34 million people- Field has not received any of her prize money since she was given the award a month ago.
“I should have got 250,000 grivna which is about £19,000. So far I’ve had nothing. Maybe it’s just been delayed because it has been their Christmas. And to add insult to injury I had to pay £57 to get the heavy trophy home,” said the Scottish psychic.
After posting about the lack of prize money payment on her Facebook, she has received the support of her fans worldwide. “I have had the support of many people since posting the injustice about my win and no cash prize. I am touched by your support,” read one of her Facebook posts.
“I was warned by many people not to come and take part in this country… I didn’t listen and wanted to give Ukraine the chance,” she says.
“They used us and kept us away from our families, our lives, our work for six months. We worked hard for them. I feel shame for them as they have not only let me down but also their country with their lies, cheating, and corruption,” she says.
The widowed Field had to live in Kiev, Ukraine during the filming of the show, which took six months.
Unfortunately, STB– the Ukrainian television company responsible for the show- was not available for comment.
