Losing a loved one is never easy, and I wish there were a unique formula I could share with you that takes the pain away. While I can’t do that, I can tell you how healing it can be to connect with the spirit of your deceased loved one. Mediums have a unique gift that allows them to connect with the spirit world and relay messages back and forth.
There’s something magical when this happens, and there’s absolutely nothing else like it. It’s the next best thing to being able to speak to them yourself. Be Patient And Understanding
A psychic medium, also known as a spirit medium or just a ‘medium,’ is a bridge to the spirit world. They are a conduit for connecting with the other side, requiring a lot of energy from them. Spirits exist on an entirely different level and have a much higher frequency than us. We call them mediums because they can raise their vibrational frequency to meet the spirit somewhere in the middle.
This space is highly sacred for the medium and takes a lot from them mentally and physically. Authentic mediums reach the other side and relay messages between them. They then have to interpret the meanings of these conversations for their client. Be patient with the medium during a session.
It may seem like they’re “taking too long” or stalling, but they’re doing their best without getting overwhelmed. An overwhelmed or overloaded medium isn’t suitable for the session at all. It leaves the medium open to other spirits and lets in messages from others that have nothing to do with you. Give them time and space; you’ll be amazed at the information they bring back to you!
Keep An Open Mind Throughout The Session
Several mediums have told me that spirit’s energies come through in the order that they want to come through. That means that even though you tried to speak to a specific aunt, your grandfather or other relative may insist on coming through first. Because of this, you must keep an open mind during the session.
It can be frustrating if the medium relays information from a family member you never really knew instead of the person you’re trying to reach. Just know that this is beyond the medium’s control, and it’s not something they’re doing on purpose. Despite their superhuman gifts, remember that mediums are still only human.
They will reach the intended person but must get past the other spirits who want to speak. They may bring up names or information that doesn’t make sense to you, but it could be because that spirit is desperate to communicate. Often, these spirits passed away quickly and unexpectedly. They never got a chance to say their goodbyes or give their final words while on Earth. They are taking this opportunity to say what they want.
Don’t be too quick to judge the medium for relaying this information, even if it’s not valuable to you. I also suggest keeping notes during the session. That’s because the medium might say things that don’t make sense at the time but will later. It’s nice to go through your notes whenever a thought pops into your mind, and it could be the key to understanding something important.
Don’t Interrupt Or Distract The Medium
During a session, the medium uses their energy to interpret words they’re hearing and symbols they’re seeing. They want it to make as much sense as possible before they give you these messages. These things are hard enough to do on their own but even harder when they keep getting interrupted or distracted.
You are welcome to ask them any questions, but please wait until they’re not in the middle of “listening” to the spirit energies. To effectively connect and communicate with the spirits, they need to be able to give them their complete, undivided attention. Mediums have told me that sometimes this process is super easy, and the messages are crystal clear and to the point.
However, sometimes they’re vague, confusing, and hard to figure out. They must work through what they’re trying to say, much like a puzzle. I can only imagine how much focus this takes. At the beginning of the session, let the medium know that you would like to ask them some questions throughout, and they can tell you when the time is right.
Understand That Sometimes Spirits Can’t Be Reached
Sometimes, a medium can’t connect with the intended spirit. That’s due to several factors. Sometimes, the deceased just isn’t in a place to be reached, or the vibrations get mixed up or aren’t strong enough. Other times, the spirit isn’t ready to make contact, or the medium is having an off day. During an off day, the medium’s energy and vibes aren’t where they need to be to make contact.
As I mentioned, mediums are only human, and things can interfere with their work just like anyone else. Don’t be discouraged or frustrated if this happens. I know what a letdown it can be, especially if this is your first time consulting with one. In that situation, the best thing to do is to keep a positive attitude, thank the medium, and try again at another time. Even though you’re not a medium who can communicate back and forth with spirits, it never hurts to still talk to them on your own.
It’s possible they can hear you, but you can’t hear them back. Thank the spirit for their time, and let them know you’re thinking of them. Tell them how much you love and miss them. Ask them to send you a sign. Be detailed in your request and ask for something specific. You can say things like, “Send me a butterfly,” or “Play me your favorite song on the radio.”
